Summary from TechDays 2010 Helsinki, Finland

Okay yet again some time has passed since last blog posting, but here it comes. Recently I was in TechDays 2010 in Helsinki, Finland. Main focus for me at that event was, of course, SharePoint 2010. The presenter was Joe Homnick and I need to say that he is good at keeping those sessions. Biggest things that were left on my mind from SharePoint 2010 is the Client Object Model. SharePoint 2010 offers very nice API for working at the client side. You can do almost everything that needs to be done in client side and then push back the changes to SharePoint (of course first you request the context you want to edit and then push it back). Almost too nice was that small detail about Javascript (or ECMAScript as they call it). Client Object Model works from Javascript, all you need to do is to reference SP.JS file and you have all the needed firepower in JS from SharePoint.
Of course there was awful lot of other stuff too in that event and I’ll try to write from those as I can remember them 😉
